I
walked some of the slab on grade looking up at the roof structure. The roof structure that I saw
appeared to be in good condition and performing well. I also walked on top of the roof and the
structure appeared to be performing well. I observed some instances of water ponding next to
the existing skylights and along the edge of the building.
It is highly recommended that slope modifications be made to eliminate water ponding on the
existing roof before the new roof is installed.
understand that the new roofing to be added weighs about 2.4 psf. Section 3404.3 of the
International Building Code allows for a 5% increase in the design gravity load on an existing
roof without modification to the original structural framing members. As only about 5% is being
added, it is my opinion that installing the new roofing is allowed per current building codes.
Should you require any additional information regarding this project, please contact me at
(206) 973-5401
Sincerely,
ENGINEERS NORTHW T, INC., P,S,
/J
Mike Pederslie '
Project Engineer ,i' N & '
' f I
840
RY: S AL,,,
MP:bs s'ONALCTG
ENW Project No-15000060
We get
buildings
built.
9725 Third Ave NE,Suite 207 •Seattle,WA 98115
206.525.7560 • fax 206.522.6698
www.engineersnw.com
