The following is the result of our findings, observations and response to
your concerns:
1. Lights in closets not present — the codes consider closets as non-habitable rooms and
therefore are not required to have natural or artificial lighting.
2. Open electrical splices — there were no open electrical splices evident. If there are any
open splices within the walls, removal of wall or ceiling finishes would be the only way
to confirm this.
3. Free-standing wood stove in detached garage — the installation lacks the required
clearance to combustibles from the unit and chimney. The installation is unsafe and
should not be used.
4. Missinb light at the basement exterior door landing — a light should be provided per the
National Electrical Code.
5. Generator installed improperly — an interlock is required for this installation. The unit is
currently dangerous to operate and needs corrective measures.
Per our conversations there are several additional concerns that you have regarding your
structure. I look forward to your forwarding them and I will promptly respond.
Sincerely,
_r`` J
Tony Lee
Building Official
City of verett
(425) 257-8812
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 (425) 257-8810 • Fax (425) 257-8857
,y
