Ted Budden
To: Kevin Fagerstrom
Cc: Tony Lee
Subject: 1824 Walnut St.
Kevi n,
We received two separate complaints about this property in the last few days concerning the conversion and occupancy
of the rear building at this address.
I checked our records and find that we have some history with this same building and scenario.
In 2008 we met with the previous owner on site for a survey of the building for purposes of attempting to bring the
property into compliance.
During this visit we observed and documented numerous building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical code violations
and deficiencies.
The property has since sat vacant for a few years.
Late last year the property was purchased by a new owner and the building in question is now occupied by a tenant.
This building is being occupied contrary to law (in addition to the known defects and code violations that were
documented in 2008.)
We show a record trail that indicates the new owner inquired about the violations by phone in late 2011 and in person
at our permit counter in early 2012.
We apparently are going to need your assistance with enforcement action on this one.
I posted the structure with an Unlawful Structure determination and Placard and contacted the tenant that resides there
explaining briefly our history and current action.
Please process this for enforcement as time allows.
Records and photos in CRW as always.
Thank you.
Ted Budden
