a. The shaft enclosure between the first floor smoking lounge and the second floor <br />residences requires an STC rating of 50. The tested assemblies for the shaft <br />enclosure should in addition to the minimum fire resistance required ALSO be <br />shown to meet the meet the minimum STC rating of 50 on the drawings. IBC <br />section 1207.2 <br />Egress <br />1. Please clearly indicate on the architectural drawings if there is a mechanical ventilation <br />opening between the smoking lounge and the vestibule, as was shown on previous <br />submittals. <br />2. The exit discharge for the building should be clarified in the code analysis. The drawings <br />appear to indicate new work at one or more of the lobby doors, but it is not identified <br />graphically on the plans as dark lines. The requirement for fire-resistance of walls and <br />doors is dependent on the application of the code section, as to whether it meets one of <br />the two exceptions for exit discharge at the lobby and vestibule. IBC section 1027.1 <br />3. Exit signs (existing and new) should be shown on the drawings. IBC section 1011.1 <br />Construction <br />1. The revised mechanical drawings indicate new penetrations through the �rst floor fa�ade <br />for make-up air. Please indicate the louvers and grilles on elevation drawinQs of the first <br />with free opening area identified on the architectural drawings. The location and size of <br />these openings are also subject to Planning Department Review. <br />2. The clear ceiling plenum area detailing the support, size, and weight of the 4 ton <br />� mechanical air handler should be shown on the architectural drawings. If the unit exceeds <br />400 pounds, structural calcula�ions are required. <br />3. Pre�iouscommentnotaddressedon thissubmitta/.• Architectural details of the walls, doors, <br />ventilation and windows of the smoking lounge should be targeted on the plan drawings to <br />indicate that the tobacco smoke does not enter other areas where smoking is prohibited <br />through walls, entrances, exits, open windows, or other means, per RCW 70.160.075. <br />The details should include, but are not limited to seals, locks, dampers, full height <br />partitions, caulking, and other methods identified in IBC section 508.2.5.2 to limit the <br />passage of smoke. <br />4. Hardware for new doors should be identified in a door schedule and not require tight <br />grasping, pinching or twisting of the wrist to operate.
