} •
Terri Jorgenson
From: Paul McKee
Sent: Wednesday, May 20, 2015 10:50 PM
To: AJ Werfelmann
Cc: Kirk Brooks; Tony Lee; Matt Welborn; Benyam Stephanos; Terri Jorgenson; Heidi Davis
Subject: RE: BWW System Development Fe
Dear Mr. Werfelmann,
Thanks for your follow-up. This email is to address the utility connection charge for the proposed Buffalo Wild Wings
restaurant that will be taking over a portion of retail space from Old Navy. In general, City Ordinance No. 3095-08
requires special connection fees based on the increased sewer and water demands new development places on
Everett's utility system. Ordinances requiring the collection of these fees date back to at least 1985.
As stated in a previous email, under the current ordinance, that fee would come to $81,756.09. After receiving this
irformatior7 you appropriately pointed out that there had been a similar type full service restaurant called Mr. Bill's
located within the mall and asl<ed if there could be credit given for that establishment.
We have reviewed the permit history for the Mr. Bill's restaurant which had operated in the mall between 1993 and
approximately 2005. Records show that the utility connection fee was overlooked at the time of permit issuance for the
restaurant and not collected as was required by code.
As we discussed in our phone conversation earlier this week, I bought this information to our Utility Finance Manager,
and in light of these particular circumstances, he has authorized a reduction in the connection fee for the new BWW
restaurant ta the rate that should have been charged bacl< in 1993.
Wher calculated at the historic rate (Ordinance No. 1171-85), the connection fee comes to $12,598.78.
I hope that this is an acceptable resolution.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Paul McKee
Permit Services Manager
C:ity of Everett
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
425-257-8£367p
425 257-8857f
From: A] Werfelmann [mailto:AJ.Werfelmann@SteadfastMgmt.com]
Sent: Wednesday, May 20, 2015 11:10 AM
To: Paul McKee
Subject: BWW System Development Fe
Paul,
