Geotechnical Engineering Report
777X Static Test Facility
Everett, Washington
This report presents our geotechnical engineering design recommendations for the proposed Boeing
777X Static Testing Facility that will be located near the northeast corner of Paine Field in Everett,
Washington. The information and recommendations contained in this document are based on the
subsurface exploration program completed by Hart Crowser, our review of existing subsurface
information, previous experience in this area, and our understanding of the planned development.
Our scope of work included the following tasks.
■ Completed 10 geotechnical soil borings at the site to depths between 30 and 120 feet below
ground surface (bgs).
■ Developed geotechnical recommendations for building foundations and site perimeter retaining
walls for design and construction.
■ Prepared this report that summarizes our subsurface exploration program and
design recommendations.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The project site consists of an area near the northern portion of Paine Field (Snohomish County
Airport). The site is located on the southeast corner of 94th Street SW and 29th Avenue W. The
western half of the site is a paved asphalt parking lot and detention pond;the eastern half is an
undeveloped lot with a 30-foot-high soil stockpile over the majority of the undeveloped area. A
stormwater detention pond is present in the southwest corner of the site. Industrial development
surrounds the site, including aircraft parking and storage areas to the west. The site is relatively flat
with the exception of a 30-foot-high fill stockpile on the eastern half of the site and a 20-foot-deep
stormwater pond in the southwest corner of the site. The remainder of the site is within about 5 feet
of elevation 570 feet. The general site location is shown on Figure 1.The site layout and exploration
locations are shown on Figure 2.
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
The project consists of designing and constructing the proposed 777X Static Test Facility over the
northern half of the site with a small supporting office building. The proposed test facility building and
attached storage and office space will be on the order of 115,000 square feet in area with 90 feet clear
height from floor to the bottom of the roof structure. Column and wall loads will be supported on
large continuous footings and uplift loading will be required for large loading doors as well as the
proposed test loads.
R
19106-01
HAffCROWS W May 29,2015
