Ted Budden
From: Ted Budden
Sent: Thursday, April 14, 2016 3:47 PM
To: Kevin Fagerstrom
Cc: Anne Weech
Subject: 1025 52nd Street (Electrical Concerns)
Kevin,
An inspection was conducted this afternoon at 1025 52"d Street as requested by the Violations Hearing Examiner.
The purpose of this inspection was to assess the electrical and safety concerns that have been identified during the Code
Enforcement and Building Department actions and investigations of this property.
Here is a summary of our findings after conducting this inspection.
No functional smoke alarms were provided for the rear north apartment unit.
Outlet and switch cover plates were missing throughout the north apartment.
An electrical hot water heater installed in the north located apartment has exposed non- metallic"Romex" wiring and
has an exposed electrical connection that requires protection.
The electrical outlets and circuits throughout the north apartment are not grounded.
The detective and exposed electrical wiring installed within the detached accessory structure that was observed and
identified during an earlier inspection has been removed by the owner.
The inspection this afternoon revealed electrical deficiencies and concerns that require correction.
It has been determined that a Washington State electrical contractor be hired by the owner to survey and repair any and
all electrical deficiencies within the building. This repair work will require a separate electrical permit.
The owner Mr. Kalyan stated that he would immediately purchase and personally install today, smoke alarms and
electrical covers where required and missing.
Based on this inspection it is my position that if the smoke alarms and cover plates are immediately installed where
necessary and that the owner obtain the services of an electrical contractor to conduct the survey and complete all
repair within 30 days, the occupants can continue to reside within the building.
Please Advise the Violations Hearings Examiner as requested
Sincerely
Ted Budden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Department
425.257 7271
1
