The Everett Municipal Code requires that all
property owners within 150 feet or adjacent to a public sanitary sewer shall connect their
private sewer (septic) system to the public sewer within 30 days after being notified by the
Public Works Department.
Our records indicate that your property is adjacent to an existing public sanitary sewer and
a side sewer stub was installed to your building. Any costs to connect, including
construction and monthly sewer charges are to be borne by the property owner.
If you wish to delay connection, the City Engineer may, on written request from the
property owner, extend the time to connect to the public sewer for a period of up to a
maximum of ten (10) years; provided that, at the property owner's expense, the
Snohomish Health District certifies, in writing, to the Public Works Department that the
existing sewage system is operational. The Snohomish Health District can be contacted at
(425) 339-5250; ask for the Wastewater Division. To request a waiver return the enclosed
form with your certificate.
Everett Municipal Code further establishes that all properties within 150 feet of an
available public sanitary sewer, who fail to connect after notice by the City, shall pay to the
City an amount equal to the sewer service charges established for other users of like kind.
All rates and charges so paid shall be credited toward the sewer connection charges
applicable at such time as the property is connected, although your property has never
been billed as of yet. It is the City's intent to begin the applicable monthly sewer service
charge, currently $59.87 per month (sewer only, not including water) for a single family
residence, if this charge has not already been started.
A sewer connection to the City of Everett's public sewer system requires payment of
various fees. These connection fees vary by home size, commercial type, and
o s. The current charges for your home
would be approxi tely $4,843. 0. his letter is intended for the current owner of the
listed property.
