•
 Meg,Haley

From: Meg Haley
Sent: Friday, September 05, 2014 8:23 AM
To: 'Lee@Lee-Kirk.com'
Cc: 'Virgil Brown'; 'Jim Heggenstaller'; Jim Venturo
Subject: RE: CANYON CREEK CHURCH tenant improvement permit issued 8/27
RE: BW1407-OQ6
1122 75th St
Hi Lee,
i agree that the main entry does not need an exit sign per code, but this is a confusing building:
• Two main entries
* Several sanctuary exits leading back to a central elevator lobby
• The proximity of the open stair to the lower main exit
• The tremendous amount of glazing and reflection.
Is there any way to mount a ceiling exit sign in the foyer or vestibule on the second level at the main entry doors to
clarify the shortest direction to exit at that you would recommend as an alternate location for the path of travei?
On the secand questian, please designate alternate stairs leading to the stage which have (ess impact on sight lines for
handraiis on both sides of that stair. The handrails are low profiie, and hopefully the safety needs of two handrails for
those who need them overcome the minor visual impact.
You can send me a field revision sketch with your recammendations an both revisions, and I will add those to our project
file. I don't see that any inspections have been caBled in on this permit, so feel free to schedule a consultation inspection
with any further questions.
Glad to hear that your patio project is almost complete!
 E5t,
re
MegHaley, RA - ._ _- _ ,.__- . .. ._ , -,. ,e , _ :, _; ,. _; _...
425-257-8813 mhaley@everettwa.gov ntr: i;n,v.ci,.eveEe+.wa.usdfacltaspxin—izo
From: Lee Kirk [mailto:LeeCaLee-Kirk.com]
Sent: Thursday, September 04, 2014 5:11 PM
To: Meg Haley
Cc: 'Virgil Brown'; 'Jim Heggenstaller'
Subject: Canyon Creek Church
Hi Meg
I just couldn't leave you alone...
Two little adjustments I would like to request from your redlines on the W permit.
- You noted a new exit sign at the lower lobby front door, but that door is in a big window wall that makes it difficult
(and unsightly) to run surface conduit across the mullions to a sign that would also need to mount to a mullion
(see the photo). Reading code section 1011.1 exception 2: "Main exterior exit doors that are obviously and
clearly identifiable as exits need not have exit signs where approved." I feel that this door fits this definition. May
we delete this exit sign?
- You noted handrails up the steps at the right side of the platform in the Worship Center. The handrail in front
obstructs the way the church uses the stage. Again to use code terminology from 1009.15, "stairs must have
/ y
