ORDINANCE NO. 3058-08 Viggz, AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 2981-07 and 3040-07 entitled "Everett Animal Shelter", Fund 342, Program 011, authorizing the design and construction of a new animal shelter. WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need for a new Animal Shelter to replace the existing Animal Shelter located at 2732, 36th Street; and WHEREAS, the City Council directed Administration to proceed with the design of the new Animal Shelter at 333 Smith Island Road; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2981-07 was established to fund the design of the new Animal Shelter; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3040-07 was established to provide additional funding necessary to complete the design of the new Animal Shelter; and WHEREAS, additional funding is necessary to complete the design and construction of the new Animal Shelter; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2995-07 was established adopting a sustainable building and infrastructure policy requiring projects exceeding 5,000 square feet, to seek LEED silver certification unless the City Council determines it is not practicable or appropriate; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is not practicable or appropriate to require LEED silver certification considering the project schedule and type of structure; and WHEREAS, it has been deemed prudent and practicable to build a structure incorporating as many sustainable building measures as possible including but not limited to measures such as: water efficient landscaping, increased natural ventilation, and increased day lighting. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: A special construction fund is hereby established as Fund 342, Program 011 entitled "Everett Animal Shelter" to accumulate the design and construction costs required to construct a new animal shelter.
