ORDINANCE NO. 3058-08 <br /> Viggz, <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 2981-07 and 3040-07 entitled <br /> "Everett Animal Shelter", Fund 342, Program 011, authorizing the design <br /> and construction of a new animal shelter. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need for a new Animal Shelter to <br /> replace the existing Animal Shelter located at 2732, 36th Street; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council directed Administration to proceed with the design of the <br /> new Animal Shelter at 333 Smith Island Road; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2981-07 was established to fund the design of the new <br /> Animal Shelter; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3040-07 was established to provide additional funding <br /> necessary to complete the design of the new Animal Shelter; and <br /> WHEREAS, additional funding is necessary to complete the design and construction of <br /> the new Animal Shelter; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2995-07 was established adopting a sustainable building <br /> and infrastructure policy requiring projects exceeding 5,000 square feet, to seek LEED <br /> silver certification unless the City Council determines it is not practicable or appropriate; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is not practicable or appropriate to require <br /> LEED silver certification considering the project schedule and type of structure; and <br /> WHEREAS, it has been deemed prudent and practicable to build a structure <br /> incorporating as many sustainable building measures as possible including but not <br /> limited to measures such as: water efficient landscaping, increased natural ventilation, <br /> and increased day lighting. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: A special construction fund is hereby established as Fund 342, Program 011 <br /> entitled "Everett Animal Shelter" to accumulate the design and construction costs <br /> required to construct a new animal shelter. <br />
