Site investigation and cleanup began in 2006. The Utilities and Street Departments have been working on the project and paying the bills. The expenditures include environmental consulting, debri cleanup, in-house labor, and site maintenance. $260,000 was set aside in the 2007 budget for this project. This re-appropriation carries forward $163,815 to 2008. This amount includes items that are the city's responsibility, and also a percentage of those expenditures that are split with KC according to the purchase agreement. The 2008 City Budget already includes $625,000 for Riverside Cleanup. Department Code Rev Exp FB GGR-8 Planning Re-appropriation-Urban Livability Grant 021R 4,850 GGR-8 General Fund Re-appropriation-Urban Livability Grant 002R 4,850 The City received a grant in 2000 from the State of Washington for an Urban Livability Grant. The funds from this grant are being used to establish design guidelines for development that will support pedestrian and transit-oriented use of Broadway Avenue. LMN Architects is under contract to finalize these guidelines. Due to Planning Department workload, this work has taken longer than anticipated. The contract with LMN will need to be updated to extend the completion date to 2008. This re-appropriation carries forward the remaining $4,850 to complete this work.
