PUBLIC WORKS
ti
April 5, 2016
Rafael Martinez
Association President
Beverly Lake Condominium Assoc.
7405 Beverly Lane#203
Everett WA,98203
Subject: Temporary Elevator Deactivation Approval
Dear Mr.Martinez,
This is in reply to your March 31 letter requesting the City of Everett to allow the elevator to be
temporarily inactivated at 7405 Beverly lane. As we previously discussed, International Property
Maintenance code Section 606.2 states that the elevator must be maintained in operation at all times
unless temporarily out of service for testing or repair.
I am approving this request for temporary elevator deactivation based on the following findings:
• All owners have signed a request to temporarily deactivate the elevator.
• The building does not have any Type A accessible units.
• Each apartment unit is multi-level with on-grade accessible entry.
• If the building were re-built today exactly as it currently exists, an elevator would not be
required to be installed within the building.
• Access to the units from the parking garage without the elevator is up a driveway apron to the
sidewalk. The slope of the driveway exceeds 1:12 as is required for ramps. Street access is
immediately adjacent to the building entrances however and should be sufficient for short-term
usage.
• Elevator activation will be required to be recommenced for cause at any time upon written
request by the City of Everett Building Official.
You will need to contact Labor and Industries directly in order to get approval to deactivate the elevator.
Please let me know if I may be of further service. I may be reached directly at(425) 257-9912 or at
tlee(&everettwa.gov.
Sincerely,
Tony Cee
Building Official
City of Everett
CC:
Everett Fire Marshal
CITY OF EVERETT 0 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425)257-8810 • Fax(425) 257-8857
