July 2, 2014
The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30
p.m., July 2, 2014 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall,
President Moore presiding. Upon roll call it was found that Council
Members Roberts, Moore, Murphy, Bader, Stonecipher, and Anderson
were present. Mayor Stephanson and Council Member Gipson were
excused.
Council President Moore led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the June 25, 2014 City Council meeting were approved as
printed. Council President Moore abstained from the vote.
COUNCIL
Council Member Stonecipher wished everyone a safe and sane 4th of
July.
CITY ATTORNEY
The City Attorney had no comments.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
Cletus Skrabak, Everett, stated that the $4 million labor reduction package
recommended in the SDAT report plus the elimination of 15 active labor
positions would help reduce the largest expense in the general budget,
improve city services, and eliminate the need for an increase in utility
taxes.
Shean Nasin, Everett, gave an update from an informal group of business
owners, which he formed. He stated that the group met and expressed
that their main concerns are the dilapidated buildings downtown, the lack
of events held at the Comcast arena, and the Mayor's proposed salary
increase.
185
