OTDR Settings <br /> I 5 • Index of Refraction <br /> 6 • Averaging time (Minimum of 30 seconds) <br /> 7 • Pulse Width (to provide a smooth trace, excluding events) <br /> I 8 9. Table of Events that includes: Event ID, Type, Location, Loss, <br /> 9 and Reflection. <br /> 10 • Events are defined as: <br /> 11 <br /> 12 1. Any reflectance event in excess of-60 dB <br /> 13 2. Any loss occurrence in excess of 0.05 dB <br /> 14 3. Any splice location regardless of loss <br /> I 15 4. Beginning and end of span <br /> 16 • The beginning of the span shall be denoted by the "A- <br /> 17 Marker". This marker shall be placed just to the left <br /> I 18 of the spike of the dead-zone box/fiber interface. <br /> 19 • The end of the span shall be denoted by the "B- <br /> 20 marker". This marker shall be placed just to the left <br /> I 21 of the end-of span reflection spike. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Fiber Optic Performance Requirements <br /> I 24 1. Splice Loss: <br /> 25 • Shall not exceed 0.20 dB in one direction <br /> 26 • Bidirectional Average shall not exceed 0.15 dB <br /> I 27 2. Reflectance: <br /> 28 • Shall not exceed -55 dB <br /> 29 <br /> I 30 Fiber Cable Testing Documentation <br /> 31 The Contractor shall submit one hard copy and one electronic copy of the fiber <br /> 32 test results to the Engineer for approval. Only one OTDR test result shall be <br /> 33 on each page. The Contractor shall take corrective actions on portions of the <br /> I 34 fiber installation determined to be out of compliance with these specifications. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Upon acceptance of the cable installation and test results, the Contractor shall <br /> I 37 submit three hard copies and three electronic copies of the fiber test results to <br /> 38 the Engineer. <br /> 39 <br /> I 40 Hard copy submittals shall be bound in 3-ring binders. Each 3-ring binder <br /> 41 shall have the following information on the front and side: <br /> 42 <br /> I 43 1. The title "Fiber Optic Test Results" <br /> 44 2. The name of the roadway(s) where fiber was installed <br /> 45 3. Contract name and number <br /> 1 46 4.
