ORDINANCE NO. 2781-04 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing a one-time separation/retirement incentive <br /> program for eligible City of Everett employees. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to provide an incentive for employees <br /> to separate or retire from the City, <br /> WHEREAS, separations and retirements provide an opportunity to identify positions to <br /> reduce the workforce. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: <br /> A. The City hereby establishes a one-time separation/retirement incentive program for <br /> eligible City of Everett employees by providing COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget <br /> Reconciliation Act of 1985) benefits. <br /> B. Eligible employees are those employees who as of the effective date of this <br /> ordinance are regular full-time or regular part-time employees with at least five (5) years <br /> of service with the City of Everett. <br /> Section 2: To receive benefits under this program, eligible employees must notify the <br /> Human Resources Department, in writing, of their desire to participate in this program <br /> no later than August 31, 2004, and must separate or retire from the City no later than <br /> September 30, 2004. <br /> Section 3: <br /> Employees participating in this program who provide notice to the City's Human <br /> Resources Department and who separate or retire from the City no later than <br /> September 30, 2004 as provided in Section 2, shall receive eighteen (18) months of City <br /> paid COBRA benefits for themselves and eligible dependents as long as eligibility <br /> requirements under COBRA are met. <br />
