Iz <br /> ORDINANCE NO. _31.63-09 <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to the regulation of For-Hire <br /> Vehicles, Amending Ordinance No. 2297-98 as <br /> amended (EMC 5.68.290). <br /> Whereas, the City Council has considered the request of for-hire vehicle drivers <br /> for a rate adjustment; and <br /> Whereas, the current rate of $2.30 per mile was adjusted to $2.10 per mile as of <br /> August 1, 2009 per the requirements of the ordinance; and <br /> Whereas, for-hire vehicle owners expressed concern that this downward rate <br /> adjustment as established by the procedures set forth in the ordinance will <br /> unfairly impact the for-hire vehicle industry during these difficult economic times; <br /> and <br /> Whereas, the City Council is concerned about the potential negative impact on <br /> this industry and finds that the current rate of $2.30 should be maintained and <br /> should become the baseline absent formal adjustments made by resolution of <br /> Council; and <br /> Whereas, the size of photograph required by the ordinance needs to be revised; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. Section 20 of Ordinance No. 2297-98 (EMC 5.68.190), which reads <br /> as follows: <br /> Fingerprints and photographs of applicants. <br /> Every applicant for a for-hire vehicle driver's license must submit, at the <br /> applicant's expense, to fingerprinting by the Everett police department and shall <br /> submit with his application, in duplicate, a full face photograph of the applicant; <br /> the photographs to be of the size of one inch square. One set of photographs <br /> shall become a part of the applicant's license, if issued, and one set shall be filed <br /> with the clerk's office. All for-hire drivers must be refingerprinted every two years. <br /> New pictures shall be required yearly. <br />
