I I 4%:// am <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3196-10 <br /> AN ORDINANCE Adopting the State Building Code, the <br /> International Property Maintenance Code, and Repealing <br /> Ordinances Under Part 9, Section 3. <br /> Whereas, the Washington Legislature adopted the state building code to <br /> provide for uniform standards in construction and other life safety matters <br /> throughout the state; and <br /> Whereas, the Washington State Legislature and the Washington State <br /> Building Code Council have recently updated the state building code, and such <br /> updates went into effect on July 1, 2010; and <br /> Whereas, the state building code is in effect in all cities and counties in <br /> Washington; and <br /> Whereas, the City may adopt certain amendments to the state building <br /> code to protect the public health, safety and welfare; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds that the adoption of the state building <br /> code, together with local amendments, serves to protect the public health, safety <br /> and welfare; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds that it is also appropriate to adopt the <br /> International Property Maintenance Code in lieu of the housing and dangerous <br /> building codes, which also serves to protect the public health, safety and welfare; <br /> and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations <br /> adopted by this Ordinance would create public harm and a public nuisance; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council finds that the Washington Legislature and the <br /> Washington State Building Code Council update the state building code a <br /> minimum of once every three years, and in lieu of the City going through a <br /> rigorous adoption process every three years to update the Everett Municipal <br /> Code, it is appropriate for the City to adopt a master ordinance that adopts the <br /> codes comprising of the state building code, which will then automatically update <br /> itself on the effective date of any amendments to the state building code; <br />
