der <br /> ORDINANCE Na 2835-05 <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending the City's License Code for th- - • • of <br /> hotels and motels, amending Chapter 25 of Ordinance No. 295-74 as amended <br /> (EMC 5.100) <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that the type, severity, and <br /> frequency of criminal activity relating to drugs and prostitution occurring at some <br /> overnight lodging facilities are a real and compelling concern to the Everett Police <br /> Department, the citizens of Everett, visitors to Everett, and the overnight lodging industry <br /> itself; and <br /> Whereas,the City Council of the City of Everett finds that there is a substantial public <br /> interest in restraining such illegal activity and nuisances associated with problem <br /> overnight lodging facilities; and <br /> Whereas, the City Council of the City of Everett finds that the public would benefit from <br /> a clarification of the process for hearings and appeals of license suspensions and <br /> revocations under the license code; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Chapter 25 of Ordinance No. 295-74 (Chapter 5.100 EMC), which is entitled <br /> as follows: <br /> HOTELS AND APARTMENT HOUSES <br /> Be and the same is hereby amended to be entitled as follows: <br /> OVERNIGHT LODGING <br /> Section 2: Chapter 25, Section 1 of Ordinance No. 295-74 (EMC 5.100.010), which <br /> reads as follows: <br /> Hotel defined. <br /> For the purpose of this chapter a hotel shall mean every building or structure kept, used <br /> or maintained as, or advertised as, or held out to the public to be an inn, hotel or public <br /> lodging house or place where sleeping accommodations are furnished to the public for <br /> hire, in periods of less than one week, in which four or more rooms are used for sleeping <br /> accommodation of guests. <br />
