ORDINANCE No. 2837-05 An Ordinance relatingto Junk and Inoperable Motor Vehicle Abatem• ,• p Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10 of Ordinance No. 2338-98 (EMC Sections 8.22.1 ! ' .020, 8.22.030, 8.22.040, and 8.22.100) and Repealing Sections 6 and 7 of Ordinance No. 2338-98 (EMC Sections 8.22.060 and 8.22.070) Whereas, the parking and storage of junk or inoperable motor vehicles on private property within the City of Everett is a visual blight upon the neighborhoods; and Whereas,the City Council finds that the parking of junked and inoperable motor vehicles is often an attractive nuisance; and Whereas,the City's code does not allow for the removal of inoperable motor vehicles when they become a public nuisance; and Whereas, as a first class City, the City of Everett has the power to enact regulations necessary for the preservation of public morality, health,peace and good order; and Whereas, as a first class City, the City of Everett has the power to provide for the prevention and abatement of nuisances; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: Chapter 8.22, of the Everett Municipal Code (Ordinance No. 2338-98),which is entitled as follows: JUNK VEHICLE ABATEMENT Be and the same is hereby amended to be entitled as follows: JUNK AND INOPERABLE MOTOR VEHICLE ABATEMENT Section 2: Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2338-98 (EMC 8.22.010), which reads as follows: Title. The ordinance codified in this chapter shall be known as the "Junk Vehicle Abatement Ordinance"and may be cited as such. Be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Title. The ordinance codified in this chapter shall be known as the "Junk and Inoperable Motor Vehicle Abatement Ordinance" and may be cited as such.
