March 11, 2015 <br /> Moved by Council Member Moore, seconded by Council Member <br /> Stonecipher, to concur with recommendation of Lodging Tax <br /> Advisory Committee and Budget Finance Chair to accept long term <br /> obligations of Hotel Motel Tax as submitted and to allocate grant <br /> funding as designated in an amount not to exceed $150,000.00 and <br /> authorize the Mayor to sign the contracts. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher questioned the inclusion of the replacement <br /> of the scoreboard at Xfinity Arena and stated that funding in the past was <br /> used for programming rather than capital projects. <br /> Considerable discussion ensued. <br /> Moved by Council Member Stonecipher to table action on this item <br /> until a council briefing for the financial plan for the Xfinity center. <br /> Motion died for lack of second. <br /> Council Member Moore, liaison, reminded citizens that all Public Facilities <br /> District meetings are open to the public. He suggested council members <br /> individually meet with the PFD to get a more in-depth financial overview. <br /> Council Member Murphy stated that after considerable discussion during <br /> the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, members unanimously <br /> recommended the item be moved forward for City Council consideration. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher requested a policy discussion to set <br /> parameters for the use of future funds. <br /> Council Member Murphy thanked the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee <br /> volunteers, Council Member Moore, and Council Administrator Deb <br /> Williams for their efforts. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes, except Council <br /> Members Roberts and Gipson who were excused and Council Member <br /> Tuohy who was recused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> 65 <br />
