WHEREAS, the package also includes local transportation financing options that will allow
Sound Transit to take an "ST3" ballot measure to the public in 2016, and that will better allow
cities and counties to address their backlog of mobility and maintenance needs; and
WHEREAS, the transportation package also invests in grant programs vital to cities and
counties, including the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB), Freight Mobility Strategic
Investment Board (FMSIB), "Complete Streets," Safe Routes to Schools, and Bicycle-
Pedestrian Safety;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVERETT THAT:
1. The Mayor and Everett City Council strongly support a comprehensive and balanced
transportation investment package, including direct funding, grant funding, and financing
options for local governments.
2. The Mayor and Everett City Council urge that in the refinements to a transportation
package by the House and that in House-Senate negotiations, the Legislature look to add
projects from the "North Puget Sound Manufacturing Corridor" list if possible, and that the
Legislature ensure a full suite of revenue options for Sound Transit to best ensure an "ST3"
ballot measure with funding levels that enable Light Rail Transit (LRT) connections into
Everett.
3. The Mayor and Everett City Council urge the Legislature and the Governor to enact and
sign into law a 2015 transportation revenue-and-reform package.
4. This resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon passage.
!2
C uncil Member Introducing Resolution
PASSED and APPROVED at a regular, open public meeting by the City Council of the City of
Everett, Washington, this 25th day of March, 2015.
F. . ill Ile /4 1 .I. -/.A AA.a, _...„,„„_,),, ,.._
ionanson, I yor - • :-de • cil President
is \:
Scott Murphy, Counci f ice P Psident -on Gip •- • - -r
diriliii`_vorprmw ,----, ,,
'""(
Je•' i ,ore, rou it Member Paul Roberts, Coun .1 Member
f-p .,...etet._ ),(01_,L,_:/iL____ _
411 --) lift—
Br da Ston ci er, Co ncil Member Judy Tuohy, Councilember
