FFC is requesting
an encroachment into the setback up to the property line plus an additional18 inches in
order to build the ramp. Gien the height of the front stairs and the gentle slope towards
the street, FFC needs this approval to construct the ramp with a 1:12 slope with a 5'
turning radius platform when it right angles towards the driveway (see attached site
plan). If this encroachment request is reduced or denied, it will require that the ramp
going directly to the driveway be extended in order to meet the 1:12 slope and ADA
requirements. Any extension of this section to the driveway, depending on the distance,
will push the ramp onto the driveway. Also, any encroachment reduction will bring the
section of the ramp going directly to the driveway closer to the front steps.
For both safety and ADA compliance, this encroachment request is necessary.
FFC is a non-profit organization that supports people with developmental disabilities.
This house purchase with funded from the State Housing Trust Fund. FFC will be
requesting Everett CHIP program funding to assist with some of the house renovations.
The tenants will receive 24/7 support and training services from Volunteers of America.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the wheelchair ramp or the project.
Sincerely,
Michael Pollowitz
Project Manager
