,
//BL/C N/O/X5 i
July 25, 2002
Alex Leighton
19900— l44'" Avenue NE I
Woodinville, WA 98072
RE: Owner: Delta Properties
Job Address: 10411 Airport Road
Plan Check No: 60207-029
Dear Mr. Leighton:
In response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have bee . Axamined and you are
advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld for the reasons listed beluw. These comments
address builing issues only. Additional revisions, or addi[ions, may be required by other
depaRments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1997 Uniform Building
Code, as amended by the State of Washington and/or Washing[on State Energy Code, 2001 Edition,
unless stated otherwise.
In order for the Qrocessing of your application to rnntinue, it will be necessary to provide the
Building Division with two complete new sets of drawings reflecting the corrr.ctions requested.
l. UBC Table SA requires the exterior bearing walls of the H-4 repair garage ta be of 4-hour
fire-resistive construction. Please verify or revise.
2. UBC 1006.2.1 prohibits exit stairways in areas where openings are required to be protected
by Table SA. Table SA would require any opening along the east wall to be protected.
Therefore, the exit cannot occur along the east wall. Removal of this exit compromises tha
exiting from the second floor. UBC 1004.2.2 prohibits exiting thrugh more than one
intervening room. With the upstairs hallway considered an intervening room with a
cumulative occupant load of more than 1Q the downstairs H-4 occupancy would then
become a second intervening room.
3. In the H-4 cecupancy, mechanical ventilation should be provided capabie of exhausting a
minimum of 1 cubic foot per minute per square foot of Floor area in accordance with Section
1202.4.
4. Please provide the necessary detailing ro ensure one-hour fire-resistive construction for all of
the beams and columns that support the horizontal occupancy separation betrsn the B and
H-4 occupancies. UBC 302.2.
5. Since door number l36 is part of the B/H-4 occupancy separation, it is required to havz a
one-hour rating.
