A while back a person approached me about exchan�ng a couple o( permits he had to build lwo small billboards in Everett for a couple[hat 1 had in his area. Since we are local to Washington, I felt that this was a good idea and went ahead with the exchange. After completing my due diligence to insure that 1 had all of the pro�r paper work,perauts and plans,1 began the process o(constructing these signs. That was about the time the ecunomy took a huge tum (or the worse. The company that I was going to have conatruct fhe boarda laid off a number of workers and then ended up closing[hev doors. About ihis seme time the company supplying me with the materials had tn raise their rates and increase their freight charge. 1 was unable to purchase the structures. The economy star[ed to atCect our busineas tm as a number o(our long term Iceal clients had to cut back on their advertising budgets. Obviousty,building the new�erett locations had to be put on the back burner. 1 spoke arith Ms. Ginny Boersema brietly on the phone and explained to her our situation baaed on the fact tha[I have a letter Gom the City of Everett explaining[hat conatruction must start on the boards by July 1. Due to the consVain[s that the economy has placed on many ot Washington's small businesses,my wife and I are hoping that the City o(�erett will Bant us an extension on this requirement. 1 would really like to ask(or an eMension of one year but understand that a year is a long time. Although 180 days would probably work, 1 am concemed about the weather. BUilding signs in the winter months is always a challenge it�Washington but we can work with it J we must. 1 know that requesting an extension is a big request but we hopc that you will understand. Theae two tocations are important to my family business especially since 1 gave up two locations to get them. We do not have a lot of boards so[hese are important to our gnwth. 1 felt i[was desirable to have the locations in Everett owned by a(amily living in this State.
