I. r <br /> Pir <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5997 <br /> A Resolution Requesting that the Federal Office of Economic Adjustment <br /> Recognize the City of Everett as the Local Redevelopment Authority under the <br /> Base Realignment and Closure Procedures for the Disposition of the Oswald <br /> Army Reserve Center Property Located at 1110 Rainier Avenue <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Defense has declared the Oswald Army Reserve Center located <br /> at 1110 Rainier Avenue in Everett to be surplus in the Federal Register published on May 9, <br /> 2007 as prescribed under the Base Realignment and Closure Act(BRAC); and <br /> WHEREAS, BRAC procedures require that planning for the future re-use and re-development of <br /> surplus military properties be conducted by a Local Redevelopment Authority(LRA), which <br /> must include the local agency responsible for land use planning; and <br /> WHEREAS, the re-use or re-development of the 3.4 acre parcel of land and associated buildings <br /> are expected to be of interest to multiple parties, organizations or individuals for various <br /> purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is the community's best interest that the City conduct <br /> a thorough public outreach and planning process consistent with BRAC requirements in order to <br /> determine a preferred plan for the re-use and/or redevelopment of the Oswald Training Center <br /> property; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has the capacity to conduct the public outreach and planning <br /> processes required under BRAC to determine the future use of the Oswald Training Center <br /> property. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby requests that the Office <br /> of Economic Adjustment recognize the City of Everett as the LRA for the Oswald Army Reserve <br /> Center property. <br /> Councilperson Introducing Resolution Date <br /> City Council P es.dent <br />
