The <br />homeowner would like to perForm the following structurally-effected modifications: <br />1. Remove the walls separating the kitchen from the dining room, living room and <br />entry/hallway. <br />The aforementioned walls around the kitchen were observed to be partition walls with no <br />vertical or lateral load assignment. They may be removed with no adverse effect to the <br />structural adequacy of the subject residence. <br />2. Remove double window along the south elevation by the dining room. <br />No structural revision required. <br />3. Remove the sliding glass door (SGD) along the west elevation and reinstall it along the <br />south elevation, centered in the dining room (where the above double windows were <br />removed). <br />The modification results in a net additional shear wall to resist east-west loading and the <br />header required over the new opening should be a 4x8 HF#2 or better.
