GECTECH
CONSULTNTS, INC.
Tom Eiden
2414 Baker Avenue North
Everett, Washington 98122
Subject: Geotechnical Engineering Stucly
Proposed Eiden Garage
2414 Baker Avenue North
Everett, Washington
Dear Mr. Eiden-
13256 NorCheast 20th Street, Suite 16
Bellevue, Washiilgton 98005
(425) 747-5618 FAX (425) 747-8567
June 21, 2010
JN 10114
via email:
This report presents the findings and recommendations of our geotechnical engineering study for
the site of the proposed garage to be located in Everett, Washington.
No plans of the proposed garage were available for our review at the time of this report, but
through discussions with you, we understand that a new garage will be constructed in a similar
footprint to the existing garage/carport at the sife. The garage will be a single story, but will also
have a full basement. As a result, cuts on the order of 10 feet will be necessary to reach the
proposed bottom of excavation. The garage will be located a couple of feet from the alley and
approximately 5 feet from the northern property line.
If the scope of the project changes from what we have described above, we should be provided
with revised plans in ortler to determine if modifications to the recommendations and conclusions of
this report are warranted.
SfTE CIVDITIDIlS
SURFACE
The subject property is located in the central portion of Everett. The rectangular-shaped propery is
nearly flat and is ongrade with the surrounding properties. The alley that abuts the site to the west
is paved and the neighboring site to the north has a crushed rock parking area adjacent to the
proposed garage location. No neighboring structures are near the proposed garage.
SUBSURFACE
The subsurface conditions were explored by excavating a hand-auger test boring in the area just
south of the existing garage location. Our exploration program was based on the proposed
construction, anticipated subsurface conditions and those encountered during exploration, and the
scope of work outlined in our proposal.
The hand-auger boring was excavated on May 5, 2010 with a manual hand auger. A geotechnical
engineer from our staff observed the excavation process, logged the test borings, and obtained
representative samples of the soil encountered. The hand boring log is attached to this report as
Plate 2.
