This concerns work without permits, and permits without inspections over a period of eleven years, <br />including the current tenant, 'Always Something', a thrift shop. <br />Following is an outline of findings and observations about this tenant in the building: <br />1. The use is identified in both County tax and City permit records as commercial use. <br />2. In 2001, a permit was obtained for a new mezzanine, requiring a shear wall and other structural <br />revisions: B0104-041. <br />a. This permit expired due to lack of inspections requested. <br />3. In 2008, a permit was obtained for new accessible restrooms on the main floor: B0803-003. Work <br />without permits was completed between the plans submitted in 2001 and 2008, to include additional <br />floor area, new and modified stairs, and structural revisions. New work does not meet minimum code <br />standards. <br />a. This permit expired due to lack of inspections requested. <br />4. In 2012, a permit was submitted for a certificate of occupancy. Work without permits was completed <br />between the plans submitted in 2008 and 2012, to include a toilet room, shower, washer, dryer, walls, <br />doors and a loading dock bay with storage. New work does not meet minimum code standards. <br />a. A stop work order will be posted on September 17, 2012. <br />5. The temporary banner sign above the door has exceeded the 30 day limit. <br />6. Please start the enforcement action on this property so that a clear deadline can be established to <br />obtain a building permit and certificate of occupancy for building permit application BW1209-001. <br />7.
