Regarding the Wienerschnitzel awning, I have attached a drawing with calculations for the size of the existing awning
and calculations for the size of the faade. As you can see, the awning is much larger than what would be allowed under
the sign code.
The sign code states the following:
•Sign Category A— Awning signs shall be considered to be wall signs for the purpose of determining allowable sign area.
•4.020 Zoning Code Definitions —"Awning sign" ......Only that portion of the awning which bears graphics symbols
and/or written copy shall be construed as being a sign.
•Definition of "Sign Area" — Sign area means the entire area of a sign on which copy is to be placed.
As you can see, the sign code contains conflicting information regarding the calculation of sign area for an awning.
In summary, Wienerschnitzel claims that they should be able to remove the awning as a non-conforming sign and
replace it with a sign that is 30 s.f. or less. Also, they would reface the existing freestanding sign.
Please let me know if you will allow this request so the sign permit can be processed. The restaurant has already
opened after their remodel.
Ron
Ronaid Jacobs Berry Sign Systems
ronl@berrysinsystems.com www.berrysinsystems.com
main 425.776.8835 fax 425.774.8221
7400 Hardeson Road Everett, WA 98703
llluminating Ideas Since 1962
Confidentiality Notice: lhe information contained in tris message and/or attachments is privileged and is for the iniended recipient only.
