•
Re-planting Plan
•
Trees that have been removed within the Environmentally Critical Area
require mitigation, re-planting of trees to offset the loss of tree canopy. The Code
Enforcement Division is requiring 3 trees be planted to replace the trees removed
without permitting and 2 trees be planted to replace those proposed for removal;
based on the City Planner's approval.
Five Alder trees were identified by Villas at Glenwood Terrace, Board
President as having been removed. Those trees were located behind buildings
H, I, J and K. On a ratio of 3:1, fifteen trees are the required replacement
quotient.
Fifty trees were inspected, following inspection, twenty-five trees were
found to represent high risk following a Tree Risk Assessment. These trees have
been flagged for removal or habitat snagging. On a ratio of 2:1, fifty trees will be
required in replacement.
The site already contains a large number of sizable mature trees, native to
the Pacific Northwest. In choosing replacement plantings, smaller growing native
trees considered as understory trees are recommended. This mix of smaller to
medium growing trees will replicate naturally occurring species. The
recommended species are shown below and were chosen for their adaptability to
moist soil conditions, filtered light and shady closed canopy conditions.
Using the City of Everett Municipal Code ECA tree replacement ratio,
sixty-five trees will be required and should be chosen from the following list:
• Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) Filtered light
• Black Hawthorn (Crataegus douglasii) Moist, open areas
• Oregon Ash (Fraxinus latifolia) Filtered light, moist, streamside site
• Pacific Yew (Taxus brevifolia) Shade bearing, under canopy, moist site
• Vine Maple (Acer circinatum) Filtered light, shade bearing, moist site
• Western Hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla) Shade bearing, moist site
Plants should be of minimum 2 gallon size and can be located where
conditions are suitable based on characteristics described above, spaced on ten
foot centers.
Villas at Glenwood Terrace Tree Risk Assessment Robert W.
