Boyce Skirt Wall
Proiect Scope/Summarv:
•
1/14/15
The existing residence located at 2510 East Grand Ave in Everett, Washington is a 2 story stick
framed structure built in 1910. The foundation is post and pier, with limited skirt walls around
the perimeter. Some of the siding has rot where it touches grade. The current owner, Raymond
Boyce, has elected to replace/repair the skirting for pest control and structural strengthening.
It should be noted that no alterations to the home are being performed that would require any
seismic or foundation upgrades per code — the work being done at the foundation is voluntary
and is replacing in kind and/or strengthening a likely otherwise laterally deficient structure.
Furthermore, none of the houses gravity systems are being adversely effected and are
therefore not in this scope.
Quick seismic and wind forces for the structure are calculated on the next page.
New/replacement skirt walls have been detailed to transfer shear forces from the exterior walls
of the house to concrete curbs located between the piers.
