The partner and public engagement <br /> process provides an opportunity to build on <br /> existing partnerships as well as establish new <br /> ones. Everett Emergency Management will also <br /> coordinate with other governmental agencies to <br /> integrate relevant portions of their separate <br /> mitigation plans. Hazards Inventory and Vulnerability Assessment <br /> (HIVA)to ensure reduced vulnerability of Everett's <br /> citizens.Additionally,the update produces overall <br /> benefits by bringing up to date the inventory of <br /> completed mitigation projects and activities. The <br /> update also keeps the project inventory current <br /> with ongoing mitigation actions. Some of the <br /> mitigation actions established in the 2011 Everett <br /> Hazard Mitigation Plan are long term activities that <br /> are still in progress.The update process will revisit <br /> these actions to make sure that they are being <br /> implemented in an effective and meaningful way. <br /> Lastly, the update benefits the community by <br /> providing an opportunity for public participation in <br /> the hazard mitigation planning process and <br /> expanding local understanding of hazards and <br /> vulnerabilities in the City. The hazards in the HIVA <br /> and the mitigation actions in Everett's Hazard <br /> Mitigation Plan are chosen based on importance <br /> and are chosen through community and partner <br /> engagement. The update of the Everett Hazard <br /> Mitigation Plan and HIVA are important to take into <br /> consideration the changing conditions in Everett <br /> and to better reflect the concerns and focus of the <br /> public.
