r W CITY COUNCIL MEETING 19 MARCH 2003 Mayor Frank Anderson and Councilwoman M. Krell this day had a meeting with Rinker Materials. This evening at the City Council meeting the mayor made a statement regarding the meeting and it can be viewed on Channel 21 on Saturday @ 7:00 PM & Sunday @ 6:00 PM. The meeting was called by the Mayor to make the City's position clear to Rinker that conditions will change on Madison and Glenwood,. with or without their cooperation. As I understand the conditions, Rinker will change their modus operandi within 45 days of this date or the Council will change it for them. Rinker has gotten the message and they do understand that conditions will change. They will not concede that the INDEPENDENT TRUCKERS are under their control but they are willing to use our suggested route for the trucks hauling rocks down from Granite Falls. Rinker estimates that about 150 trucks would be off M/G. The city states 540 trucks go in and out of Rinker each day so 150 trucks out of 540 is not satisfactory. 540 TRUCKS ARE A THORN THAT MUST BE PLUCKED FROM OUR SIDE. Conditions on Madison/Glenwood will be such that residents will be able to open their windows and not breath diesel fumes or dust. If after 45 days, conditions are not met, The city will cause a resolution to be in effect that will satisfy the"Petition that each of you have signed." This fight is not over. Your support is needed and will be needed until the residents of Madison/Glenwood and residents adjacent to are free of the outrageous conditions placed upon us by Rinker Materials. To you and each of you, I extend my appreciation for your support in this endeavor. Your willingness to attend the Neighborhood meetings at Madison School when scheduled, your financial support for the signs on Madison/Glenwood. and your perseverance to stay the course until this matter is concluded.
