Account Number(s): Utility Fund 401 <br /> Amount Budgeted $35,000 <br /> Additional Required $ -0- <br /> SUMMARY STATEMENT: <br /> Eelgrass beds in the near shore of Port Gardner Bay provide important habitat for juvenile salmon and other <br /> aquatic organisms. Productive eelgrass beds require nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus at a level high <br /> enough to stimulate growth of eelgrass, but not so high that it favors other aquatic organisms that compete <br /> with eelgrass for space and light. The professional services agreement will authorize Taylor Associates to <br /> evaluate the role that flow in Everett's streams play in maintaining nutrient concentrations in Port Gardner <br /> Bay within a range that is beneficial to the eelgrass beds.
