Expenditure Proposed: $0 Account Number(s): Amount in Current Budget for this Item: $0 Additional Amount Requested: $0 SUMMARY STATEMENT: Everett Transit has examined customer demand and explored alternatives for providing telephone transit information services for its customers. Everett Transit considered the merits of a new proposal from Community Transit, contracting with a non-transit telephone answering service and operating the service with Everett Transit staff and facilities. The City of Everett has contracted with Community Transit for telephone customer information services since 1984. Since February 2002, Everett Transit staff have been providing telephone customer information services for Everett Transit through new phone lines established with the building of Everett Station. Everett Transit staff believes that a cost effective, telephone transit information service can best be provided by Everett Transit personnel. RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Mayor to take all appropriate action to enable Everett Transit to take responsibility for telephone customer information services. R1h/AU0501403/CI5 13
