They are
as follows:
1) A new beam line two feet offset from the existing beam line, lining up two point
Ioads abare, but increasing the existing foor Joist length on one side by two feet. V4'ith
respect to the footing at th new location, the urrent stab depth is apprximately six
inches thick. If sawcutting to install a new footing, we woutd recommend a 8"xi6"
footing with (2) #4's continuous. Another ption wauid be to spread any point loads
from above. The owner has s«ggested using 4"x7"x1/2" steel plates between the existin
slab and the pcst. We have reviewec that option and take no exception to thatwith the
owner's acknaweclgement there may be some minor cracking in the concrete with the
new posts.
2) 'Ve understand the floor joists are to he sistered and take no exception to the
length increasing by two feet. Tle praposed steel beam wili te stroner than the exiting
6x6 and the spans between the posts may be mociified up to the code limits fc>r deflection
(L/240 for DL + LL).
3} We have reviewed the rea ara:nd the basement hallway eiling involving the 3"
scuare tube stee( support nd take no exceptivn to this revisian.
Should you have any questians, please feeI free to give me aCal( at (3fi0) 331-3113.
