Explore subsurface conditions of the site with backhoe test pits excavated to
deptYis where a firm soil stxatum capable of providing adequate foundation support
to buildings is encountered or to the maximum depth (about 1 Q feet) capable by the
backhoe used in test pit excavation, whichever occurs first.
3. Conduct laboratory soil particle size distribu#ion test in accordance with ASTM
42 on two soil samples obtained from targeted soil layers in the test pits.
