The building is a part of the $170 million Campus Redevelopment Initiative (CRI) pro-
ject. Construction of the building begins with demolition of the County parking garage late this Fall. Com-
pletion of the building is scheduled for mid-winter, 2005.
"We have about 2600 employees working for the County today," according to County Executive
Bob Drewel, "about 1700 work in Downtown Everett and only half of those are housed on our primary
campus at 3000 Rockefeller Avenue. When the new administration building is completed, savings on
rental costs will be realized as County employees scattered throughout downtown are brought back to-
gether on the County campus."
The new building will be the tallest structure on the County campus, according to Larry Van Horn,
director of Facilities Management who heads up the Campus Redevelopment Initiative (CRI) project.
"NBBJ and the Mortenson Company are doing a great job of designing and building these expansions to
Campus in a most cost effective and efficient way – adding to the attractiveness of downtown Everett."
The CRI project also includes a new jail building being added to the existing jail, a 1200+-stall under-
ground parking garage, and a large plaza area on top of the garage that features an amphitheatre for
community events and an outdoor café.
(over)
