SECTION 2 - Risk Assessment and Erosion Control
The project's risk of harm to the site's receiving waters can be quantified per the
methods established in Snohomish County Policy POL-3044. The proposed
development meets many of the requirements for a MEDIUM RISK project as
follows:
❖ Less than 2 acres of the site are to be disturbed and slopes across this
area are less than 10%.
❖ The Alderwood type soils found on site present a medium erosion hazard
(per Appendix A of PRO-3044.)
Exposure of the underlying soil materials to erosive forces is not
anticipated, since very little cut is proposed.
The site is approximately 210 feet upstream of a pond (the Herschlip Pond). The
Herschlip Pond discharges directly to Silver Lake Creek, a Type 3 stream. Since
this critical area falls within a 1/4 mile downstream of the project, the proposed
construction falls within the HIGH RISK category.
A Level 1 or 2 Surface Water Pollution Prevention Plan will be prepared for the
project as required and designated by Snohomish County Drainage and Grading
Review Staff. Winter or Wet Season construction is NOT proposed for the
project.
Targeted Drainage Report for Everett Public Schools Section 2—Risk&Erosion Control
Silver Lake Elementary Parking Lot Expansion January 6,2003
By: Perteet Engineering
