RESOLUTION NO. 5791 <br /> A RESOLUTION honoring Everett Symphony's <br /> achievements and contributions to the City of Everett <br /> and declaring July 19, 2006, Everett Symphony Day. <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Symphony, founded by Raymond Howell in 1935, has <br /> endowed our community with a superb performing arts organization for more <br /> than half a century; and <br /> WHEREAS, the orchestra, with a solid base of 50 musicians under the direction <br /> of Maestro Paul-Elliot Cobbs, continually provides music of excellence and beauty <br /> to the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, through Everett Symphony's international cultural exchange, the <br /> orchestra has performed in Eisenstadt, Baden, Vienna, Rome, Montecatini and <br /> Abano and in turn has brought international guest artists to the Everett stage; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, as an integral part of Everett's vibrant and growing art scene, the <br /> Symphony's contribution to our quality of life and our economic development is <br /> vital to Everett's cultural growth; and <br /> WHEREAS, on June 27, 2006, the quality of the orchestra was affirmed and a <br /> dream was realized when Dr. Paul-Elliott Cobbs and the Everett Symphony <br /> received a standing ovation for an impressive performance at New York's <br /> Carnegie Hall; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Everett celebrates the <br /> Symphony's importance to our community and congratulates them for their <br /> exceptional accomplishments and declares July 19, 2006, Everett Symphony Day. <br />
