The 2006 <br /> International Building Code states in Section 719.3, "Exposed Insulation, Insulating materials where <br /> exposed as installed in buildings of any type construction,shall have a flame spread index of not more <br /> than 25 and a smoke-developed index of not more than 450." Also, the 2006 International Building <br /> Code in Section 719.1.3 states that: "Duct and pipe insulation and duct and pipe coverings and linings <br /> in plenums shall comply with the International Mechanical Code" <br /> The 2006 International Mechanical Code states in Section 602.2.1, "Materials exposed within <br /> plenums. .... Materials within plenums shall be noncombustible or shall have a flame spread index <br /> of not more than 25 and a smoke-developed index of not more than 50 when tested in accordance with <br /> ASTM E-84." SuperDuct® RC Fiber Glass Duct Board Insulation can be used in plenum spaces per <br /> the 2006 International Building Code and the 2006 laternational Mechanical Code. <br /> Please check with your local building code inspector as they have final say in the use of those <br /> materials in plenum spaces.
