RESOLUTION NO. 5733 <br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett in support of Snohomish Subarea <br /> candidate projects for inclusion in a potential Sound Transit Phase Two Program <br /> WHEREAS, voters in the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority (dba: <br /> Sound Transit) taxing district approved a phase one program of projects in <br /> September 1996; and <br /> WHEREAS, the city of Everett is the northern most jurisdiction in the Sound <br /> Transit taxing district; and <br /> WHEREAS, the phase one program of projects included a set of projects and <br /> services within the city of Everett supporting the regional public transit vision; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, this set of projects and services also provides local benefits <br /> commensurate with local taxes raised by Sound Transit within the city of Everett; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Sound Transit is currently evaluating 61 candidate projects for <br /> possible inclusion in a potential phase two program of projects; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Snohomish Subarea contains sixteen (16) of the 61 candidate <br /> projects as of January 12, 2006; and <br /> WHEREAS, the city of Everett is part of the Snohomish Subarea; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Sound Transit Board of Directors is seeking input from its <br /> member jurisdictions regarding candidate projects that should be considered for <br /> further evaluation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the city of Everett has been an active and collaborative partner of <br /> Sound Transit regarding regional transit policy and project implementation; and <br /> WHEREAS, this collaboration has helped to identify the 16 candidate projects in <br /> the Snohomish Subarea; and <br />
