As a result of the revisions, a law enforcement officer may not knowingly possess or <br /> have under his or her control a weapon in areas of buildings used in connection with court proceedings if he <br /> or she is present at the building as a party to an action under Chapter 10.14 RCW (Harassment), Chapter <br /> 10.99 RCW (Domestic Violence—Official Response)or Chapter 26.50 RCW (Domestic Violence <br /> Prevention), or any action under Title 26 RCW (Domestic Relations)where any party has alleged the <br /> existence of domestic violence. These amendments became effective in June of this year. City law regarding <br /> firearms must be consistent with State law. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):Adopt an Ordinance Relating to Possession of <br /> Weapons in Courthouse Buildings, Amending Sections 3 and 4 (part)of Ordinance No: 1641-89(EMC <br /> 10.78.100). <br /> 13 <br />
