nay 16, I97
City of Everett
Cit:y Engineer ; jJ -r
30J2 Wetmore
Everett, Wa. 98201
, , I
De+3r Sir,
I Nould like to make a formal complaint regarding a basketball hoop and stnnd
sit:uated on my personal property.
Approximately thirteen year5 ago one of my neighbors asked my son if It was okay
to out up the basketball stand (n our backyard (which is between 18th b 19th S[.
on Fulton Street) . I was not at home and my son satd yes, Of course, nelther of
us realized what a permanent ffxture i[ was going tn be,
Since that time, the number of chlidren who utllize the privllege has more than
tr?pled in number and the children older in age, I [ has becnme very inconvenien[
as the nelghbors around me now are corictantly complain(ng and have filed a complafn[
with the city. Also, because of the Increased usage, my yard gets constant abuse.
Lastly, it has becane a sefety hazard, as the automobile trafflc has increased
tremendously over the past th( rteen years.
I don' t want to deprive the children of someplace to play, but also I can no longer
tolerate the comp!nints of thc netghbors and the abuse o( my property.
Being I am a widow and Iive alone, I do not want etther the nefghbors or the chfidren
to get angry wfth me over this situation.
If the city can issue me a former request of some sort to remove this basketball hoop,
than the cornpla(ng neiyhbors would be happy and the children would not think I was
takino it down to be mean,
I have had a phone conversation w(th Ed Laton regarding this situition. Mr. Caton
was very patfent, understanding, and helpful with my problem.
If sanething can be done (mmedlately, I would be most appreciative as the nei9hbors
have become impa[lent and are star[in9 to becker wlth each other which I would like
to see cease as soon as poss(ble.
Thank you for /our cons(deration.
, c '
 ;i . . t
Sincere' . , ' J "` „
y, /;' f •;
Mrs. Ra:a Erieksen
1809 Beker Street
Everett, Wshin9ton
hone: 252-612
