The majority of these conditions have <br /> been the result of plumbing installations, but certai.n <br /> electrical contractors have also been guilty. <br /> ' Section 2518 (d) , Uniform Building Code, state�: ".Jotches on <br /> the ends of joists shall not exceed one-fourth rhe joist <br /> d�pth. Itoles bored in joists shall not be within 2 inches <br /> of the top or bottom of the joists and the diameter of any <br /> such hole shall not exceed one-third the depth of the joist. <br /> Notches in the top or bottom of joists shall not exceed one- <br /> sixth the depth and shall not he located in the middle third <br /> of the span. " • • ' • <br /> Section 315 (b) , Uniform Plumbing Code, states: "AT1 pipinq <br /> in connection with a plumbing system shall be so installed <br /> that piping or connections will not be subject to undue <br /> strains or stresses, and provisions shall be made for ex- <br /> pansion and structural settlement. No oiping shall be <br /> directly embedde3 in concrete or masonry walls or footings. <br /> ' No structural r.ember shall be seriously weakened or impaired <br /> by cutti.ng, notching or otherwise, and unless imoractical <br /> due to structnral conditions, all wood beams, girders, joists, <br /> studs and similar construction shall be bored �vith holes <br /> approximatcly the same diameter as the pipes passing through <br /> them.
