When we were aware thet a home would be built on that proper[y we were not initially op- posed to the idea. Even when constructlon had been underway to the point of the second living level, yes we were disappointed tha[ ve Los[ that portion of our view, but we knew they were r+ithin their tights [o build [o that point. Ilowever, ahen the constructlon progresseJ ¢o the third story� we were shocked. Shocked, not due to any loss [o us in regarde to our view, but becauae of the �+ppenrance this tower has in the neighborhood. Nevertheless� it has deEin![ely inftinged on the views af others in the aren where it ahould not have done ao. Isn't this the purpose of our builJing codes2 Aren'[ the codes wri[ten, and the officials elected or hired to enforce and uphold the codea to protect us Erom this very si[uetion accurring7 khen the stop r+ork was issued ve applauded the City for standing up to such a flagrant aUuse. We reelized the implications of such an action on a site elreedy under construction. At tl�at point a maJor revision would be costly to the owner, therefore it is easy to understend the owner Jefending her posi- tion. llowevet, aho should pny the price for the situation which has developed7 Certainly .not the homeowners surrounding this site. It is regre[table that the construction has pragresse,d to thla point� but that'snota valid reason to ignore or stretch the code to ellow for such an abuse to [he intent of the code. Your decision today is not one that will be :otgotten in e week or two. If this construction is alloaed to continue� your deciston will stand in plain view of the City for decades and decades [o come. We have lived in our home for over 10 years nov. We plan to live here to raise our family, this is our home. We teke pride in [his Rucker Hill area as a unique heritage of Everet[. This is our investment in this issue.
