1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of our subsurface exploration, geologic hazard, and preliminary
geotechnical engineering smdy for che subject project. Our recommendations are preliminary
in that definite building locations and construction details ha• not been final!ied at the time of
this report. The location of the subject site is shown the Vicinity Map, Figure 1. The building
lot boundaries, existing site topography, and the approximate loc:ations of the explorations
accom:lished for this study are presented n the Site and Exploration Plan, Figure 2. In the
event that any changes in the nature, design, or locations of the swctures are platmed, the
conclusions and recommendations contained in this report should be reviewed and modified, or
verified, as necessary.
The purpose of this smdy tias to provide geotechnical design recommendations to be used in
the preliminary design and development of the subject project. Our smdy included a review of
available geologic literature, cxcaeation of exploration pits, drilling exploration borings, and
performing geologic studies to assess the [ype, thic}:ness, distribution, and physical properties
of the subsurface sediments and shallow ground water conditions. Geologic hazard ealuations
and geotechnical engineering studies were also conducted to assess suitable hazard mitieation
options, the types of suitable foundations, alloaable foundation soil bearing pressures, piling
recommendations, anticipatr.d setQemrnts, basemendretaining wall lateral pressures, floor
support recommendations, and drainage considerations. This report summarizes our current
ficldvork and offers development recommendations based on our present understanding of the
rrojcct.
