V
contain accumulated oil. To address this problem, a
floatable material separator (City std *411) without a vent
hole can be used on the bypass pipe if enough clearance
exists between the crown of the bypass pipe and the
ground/rim elevation. Adequate pipe cover must be provided
and City installation requirements must be met (required
pipe cover depends on the pipe material and a minimum of 1.5
feet is necessary between the rim elevation of the
manhole/cb and the crown of the bypass pipe to meet all city
standards regarding installation).
A third alternative is to install a rstrictor-typp unit on
the bypass pipe equipped with a baffle, made of a larger
diameter oipe welded to the standpipe. The space between
the baffle and the overflow standpipe must be larqe enough
to not restrict flows. The baffle must be stiffened by
welding a"rib" from the standpipe o the baffle, and must
extend a minimum of 4 inches above and 6 inches below tle
overflow elevation. The water quality device restrictor
standpipe must also be capped and provided with a one inch
vent hole.
The entire contributing area must be used in calculating the
size of the oil/water separator vault altnough only the
paved surface is required to be routed through the
separator.
A minimum of two feet of catch should be provided below the
invert of the vault inlet and the bottom of the highflow
bypass catch basin.
The inlet and outlet elevations of the separator, the
elevation of the bottom of the separator, and the position
and height of interior baffles should be clearly shown on
the vault detail.
The separator should be equipped with a sampling tee at its
outlet.
The oil/water separator maintenance notes from section
/ '4.11.1 of the City of Everett Design and Construction
Standards and Specifications must be included on the
drainage plans.
Jhe following information regarding the oil/water separator
must be submitted far review and approval:
1) design flow calculations
2) design inle: capacity calculations
3) orifice sizir.g calculations
4) oil/water separator sizing calculations
5) bypass sizing calculations
6) copy of site plan showing the contributing area
