Champion seconded
by r. Cronin and unanimously carried to deny th applicants request
for the following reasons:
1. This is a B-1, Neighborhood Shopping Zone where signs are
resLricted in size primarily because of the proximity
of residential homes.
2. The applicant should have been aware of zoning restricEions
prior to renting the building. No hardship exists that could
not have been avoided.
3. No testimony was offered by the applicant to indicate a
hardship other than he wanted the sign to be visible from
the freeway.
4. The Board car.not justify a sign with such an extreme change
from 30 sq. ft. (maximum size as specified by City Ordinance)
to 160 sq. ft. in size.
A hearinq was held on the application of Kenneth C.
