We have reviewed this
and determined that a 30-inch pnrapet is not required by thc Uniform Building Code based on the following:
1. The propeny abuts a 24-foot-wide alley along the west side.
2. Per Section 503.1 (attached), the centerline of an adjoining public way shall be considered an
adjacent property line.
3. Per Table 5-A(attached), for type V-N Construction of M occupancies, bearing walls shall bc
of one-hour conswction and openings shall be protected if less than 10 feet from property line.
4. Per Section 709.4.1 (atWched), parapets need not be provided on exterior walls. When due
[o the location of the property line, the wall may have unprotected openings.
We are currently pmparing the construction release drawings and we will keep the parapet at the present
height of 1G inches t above the roof.
The second mark-up on Sheet A2-2 calls for perimeter footing insulation. Attached is a copy of an April 29,
1998, letter from Colleen Haulrigs, of Barghausen Consulting Engineers, inc. The revised energy
calculations demunstrate that footing insulation is not required;therefore, the construction release drawings
will not include perimerer insulation.
Please teel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments concerning the abovc informatien.
Res ct ly,
Dou las G.
